First CGM System & Insulin Pump in Islamabad By Dr. Saleem Qureshi At CDLD (Center For Diabetes & Liver Diseases)

Dr Saleem Qureshi and his team installed the first CGM System & Insulin Pump in a Type 1 Diabetic Patient named Himala at Center for Diabetes and Liver Disease. (CDLD) located at 11 Hill Road F-6/2, Islamabad. CGM uses a tiny sensor placed under the skin of your belly. You can put it in quickly, and it’s usually not painful. It measures the amount of glucose in the fluid inside your body. A transmitter on the sensor then sends the information to a wireless-pager-like monitor that you can clip on your belt.

Executive Council Meeting & Educational Session:
was held on 19th January, 2015 supervised by Dr. Saleem Qureshi (Chairman ADLD) and Dr. Musarat Iqbal (Co-Chairman) to take important decisions about the future events. Other members of the team Dr Usman, Dr Sidra, Dr Jawad, Dr Naveed & diabetes educators took special interest in the educational sessions on CGM and insulin pump which include interactive sessions for optimizing the blood glucose control with the help of CGM. Updates of future events will be disclosed soon.
An insulin pump is a medical device used for the administration of insulin in the treatment of diabetes mellitus, also known as continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion therapy. It is an alternative to multiple daily injections of insulin and allows for intensive insulin therapy when used in conjunction with blood glucose monitoring and carb counting.
