A diabetes and liver diseases awareness and screening activity for deserving people in the community in Gujar Khan at Shahid Sarraf's (Ex.Vice Chairman municipal Committee Gujar Khan)house was held on 24th of September 2016.
This facility was arranged for poor, needy and the deserving people who cannot afford the health/screening facilities properly due to financial or other social issues.

We were provided with a wide space in the house, it was highlighted by scientific material on every aspects of diabetes and liver diseases on modern, colourful back-lit displays. Practical advice and information brochures and booklets on prevention from these deadly diseases were also given to people In this awareness and screening camp Free checking for blood sugar, HbA1c, cholesterol, Blood pressure, BMI, Biothesiometer and Hepatitis B & C screening was provided.
People displayed great interest in these activities and a large number of people were tested and educated
Dr Saleem Qureshi Chairman ADLDi and Dr. Musarrat Iqbal who is the Co. Chair of ADLDi were available from 10 am to 4 pm and personally examined the patients, guide families on the current unfolding epidemic of these diseases in our population free medications were also provided to the patients.
Full dedicated team lead by the Senior doctor, Dr, Naveed Akhtar, comprising of trained dietitians, diabetes educators and volunteer medical students educated the patients and their families about the practical ways to focus on changing diet and physical activity patterns. Visitors were very appreciative of this selfless initiative to highlight and suggest remedies and ways to prevent and overcome the deadly menace of these communicable and non communicable disease
In addition to education a number of people who were previously undiagnosed were found to have very high levels of blood sugars and many of them were diagnosed with Hepatitis B & C, Perepheral and Diabetic Neuropathy, Osteoporosis and High cholesterol levels .This activity endorses the mission of ADLD to screen and educate the community and masses
